Safety Policy
At Tan-Ex Salon, client safety is our highest priority. We are committed to providing tanning, aesthetic, and laser treatments in a safe, professional, and regulated environment. All treatments are carried out by trained professionals using approved equipment and protocols.
General Safety Guidelines
All clients must be 18 years or older and provide valid photographic ID before using sunbeds or receiving aesthetic or laser treatments.
A consultation is required prior to certain treatments to assess suitability.
We reserve the right to refuse treatment if it is deemed unsafe or unsuitable.
All equipment is regularly cleaned, sanitised, and maintained to a high standard.
Patch tests are required for laser treatments where applicable.
Sunbed (Tanning) Safety
Clients will be advised on appropriate exposure times based on skin type.
Overexposure increases the risk of skin damage; we strongly advise following staff guidance.
Protective eyewear must be worn at all times while using sunbeds.
Sunbeds must not be used if you are pregnant, have certain medical conditions, or are taking photosensitive medication.
Clients should not use sunbeds more than recommended or combine tanning sessions with excessive natural sun exposure.
Clients will be advised to wear eye protection which is provided in salon.
Sunbed Hygiene & Cleaning
At Tan-Ex Salon, all sunbeds are thoroughly cleaned and sanitised after every use. Our team follows strict hygiene procedures using professional-grade disinfectants to ensure each bed is safe and hygienic for every client.
Clients are also encouraged to use the in-salon cleaning products provided before and after use for added reassurance.
Sunbed Aftercare
Moisturise skin regularly to maintain hydration.
Avoid excessive sun exposure for at least 24 hours.
Discontinue use and seek advice if irritation or discomfort occurs.
Aesthetic Treatment Safety
A full consultation will be carried out before aesthetic treatments to assess medical history and suitability.
Treatments are performed using approved products and techniques.
Medical or consultation information is treated as strictly confidential.
Aesthetic Aftercare
Follow all aftercare advice provided by your practitioner.
Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive heat for the advised period.
Mild swelling, redness, or bruising may occur and usually resolves naturally.
Contact the salon if you experience unexpected or prolonged side effects.
Laser Treatment Safety
Laser treatments are only carried out following a consultation and, where required, a patch test.
Clients must avoid sun exposure, tanning products, and fake tan before and after treatment as advised.
Protective eyewear will be provided and must be worn during treatment.
Certain skin types, medical conditions, or medications may make laser treatment unsuitable.
Laser Aftercare
Avoid sun exposure and always use SPF as advised.
Keep the treated area clean and avoid heat treatments (saunas, hot baths) for the recommended period.
Mild redness or sensitivity is normal and should subside quickly.
Do not pick, scratch, or exfoliate the treated area until fully healed.
Client Responsibility
Clients are responsible for:
Providing accurate medical and personal information
Following all pre-treatment and aftercare instructions
Informing staff of any changes in health, medication, or skin condition
Failure to follow safety or aftercare guidance may increase the risk of adverse reactions and could affect treatment results.
Policy Updates
This Safety Policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in regulations, best practices, or treatments offered. The most current version will always be available on our website.
